ceramic bird workshops
New Workshop Dates
Workshops are now full through August/September.
I will post new workshop dates mid October.
I will be running some workshops in Hobart at Glazed and Confused Studio later in the year.
If you are interested contact Julie at Glazed and Confused Studio.
Make your own ceramic bird sculpture in a one day workshop with Eve Howard. Eve will guide you through the process of creating your own work in her ceramic bird workshop. Eve's studio is at Sommers Bay Murdunna, approximately one hour from Hobart on the Forestier Peninsula in Tasmania.
Absolutely no experience is necessary.
You will make and paint your bird on the day and then Eve will fire it in her kiln and it will be ready for pick up within a month. Time for the piece to dry and then be fired. (As with all ceramics, there is always the possibility of breakage in the firing, Eve will discuss ways of avoiding this on the day.)
Full Cost for the day is $125 per person, this includes all materials and firing.
All you need to bring is an apron, your lunch and some bird books or pictures for inspiration.
9.30am sharp to 3.30pm approximately
It is possible to have a group of 5 friends and Eve also will come and do workshops in community groups of up to 10 people.
A choice of 3 workshops available
1. nesting bird - gulls, hens, oystercatchers etc.
2. upright bird - owls, penguins etc.
3. 2 small birds - pardalote, finches, wrens etc.

testimonials for Eve Howard Bird Making Workshop
I was lucky enough to experience one of Eve's wonderful 'ceramic bird workshops'. I had no experience and no confidence but she is a fantastic teacher and gave me so much encouragement that much to my amazement my owl turned out quite well. He even looked like Wol (Owl) from the Winnie the Pooh books which was what I had intended. I gave him to my sister (who is a big fan of the books) as a Christmas present and she loves him. The class was small and in a gorgeous location. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
I recently attended a bird making workshop run by Eve in her studio at Murdunna. I was a little hesitant and unsure of myself, but I was instantly relaxed upon arriving at Eve’s beautiful home and meeting with Eve and the other participants. Eve gently guides you from a block of clay to a wonderful creation by the end of the day. She is so generous with her time and knowledge, and there is absolutely no pressure whatsoever to be artistic, the idea is just to enjoy the clay and have fun. I would wholeheartedly recommend this workshop. It was relaxing, inspiring and joyful. What a way to spend a day, working with your hands, getting dirty all the while overlooking the gorgeous Sommers Bay in Murdunna.
